Travel information about Langley-Whidbey Island, Washington

Whidbey Island, is one of nine islands located in Island County. Whidbey is located about 30 miles (50 km) north of Seattle, and lies between the Olympic Peninsula and the I-5 corridor of western Washington. One of the annual festivals celebrated in Whidbey is the Island County Fair, which takes place the third weekend of August. It includes rides, food, and animal shows. Another interesting festival is the Whidbey Island Race Week. A week long sailing regatta every summer based out of Oak Harbor with daily racing in Penn Cove and/or Saratoga Passage (depending on wind conditions). Usually held the third week of July, but varies slightly due to tidal conditions. Local attractions include Whidbey Island's Scenic Byway, the only designated Washington State Scenic Byway on an island. If you are going to spend a few days taking in the sights and sounds of Widbey Island, you might consider staying in a Langley-Whidbey Island bed and breakfast or Langley-Whidbey Island inn. A B&B will give you an up close and personal perspective of the town. Also noteworthy is that The Washington State Park system includes 121 parks. Whidbey and Camano Islands are home to seven of them, plus numerous city, town and county parks. Located in Langley, Prima Bistro offers french inspired cooking, using classic French ideas and techniques and applying them to the local, fresh ingredients abundant in the Northwest. If you are interested in a meal to remember, visit to Christopher's in Whidbey Island. It is a casual class act. Local delicious ingredients and excellent service.
