8 medium cooking apples (Granny smith, Mac Intosh, etc.)
1 cup water or apple cider
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon or Dozen red-hot candies

Peel, pare and slice apples
Place in 2 quart covered glass baking dish
Add water or cider
Microwave 10 - 20 minutes on high until apples are soft but retain their shape
Add sugar and cinnamon
Applesauce is delicious hot or cold, with granola and yogurt or cream
