Bars:
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cups flour

Filling:
2/3 cups (5.3 ounce can) evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups (12ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup walnuts
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Melt first 3 ingredients in medium saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until chips are melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in walnuts and almond extract. Blend well and set aside.

1 Large mixing bowl
1 medium saucepan
9"x13" glass baking pan
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs and almond extract. Blend well with mixer. Add flour, salt and backing soda. Press half mixture in greased pan. Spread chocolate filling on top. With remaining bar mixture, drop 1/2 tsp. on top of filling to create 24 evenly spaced drops. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 24 squares.
