Welcome to the Habberstad House Bed and Breakfast, located in the historic bluff country's river town of Lanesboro just 45 minutes from Rochester and the Mayo Clinic. Located in a quiet residential area, the Habberstad House is 6 blocks from downtown shops, fine dining and theatre, as well as the Root River and bike trails. Built in 1897, the beautiful original oak woodwork, pocket doors and floors have been refurbished and renovated. The spacious yard has been landscaped with a fountain and pond, gardens, and seating areas for your enjoyment. Your hosts are Nancy and Dave Huisenga.

Habberstad House Bed and Breakfast -

Lanesboro, Minnesota

All rooms have private bathrooms, queen size, regular (full) size and king size beds available, and our home has quiet, central air conditioning and high speed wireless internet access. A full, hearty breakfast is included with your stay in the main house, served family style in the dining room at 8:30 AM (for example, fresh fruit and delicious baked goods such as cheese-filled crepes or warm chocolate muffin cakes hiding little chocolate covered cherries, teas, coffees, juices, entrees including a Dutch apple pannekoeken with bacon, or Belgian waffle served with fresh fruit and whipped/ice cream, and sausage, or Eggs Benedict served with savory American fried potatoes or carmelized rhubarb French toast served with savory scrambled eggs and ham). We serve certified organic local eggs. Our home is smoke and candle free, and we do not house pet guests.

Rooms and Rates:
  • The Rose Suite - $150 per night, plus tax, including breakfast.
    This two-room suite has hardwood floors, bay windows, a queen-size bed and a comfortable reading room. Adjoining this room is a cozy, private 3 season porch where you can enjoy the afternoon breeze while you sit and relax. Decorated in rich Queen Anne cherry furniture, this charming suite offers a private bath with shower.
  • The Orchid Room - $125 per night, plus tax, including breakfast.
    This bright, airy, spacious room provides a comfortable place where you can read, relax and rest. Decorated with wonderful 1870's black walnut Victorian furniture and a queen-size bed, it includes a large private full bath with tub and shower.
  • The Heather Room - $150 per night, plus tax, including breakfast.
    This special room features oak floors, antique oak furniture, and accents reminiscent of the Scottish countryside, overlooking the fountain and pond in the garden below. Relax in the wonderful 2-person whirlpool after a day of bicycling, shopping, or canoeing. Room offers queen-size bed with no footboard - ideal for tall guests.
  • The Amish Suite - $165 per night, plus tax, including breakfast.
    This unique, spacious third floor suite is a light and open space. Knotty pine covers the many angles of the Victorian roof; the center of the room is over 16 feet from floor to ceiling! Enjoy the comfortable, typically simple Amish furnishings and decor. There are 2 double (full-size) beds, and comfortable couches for relaxing while you watch cable TV or a video/DVD or listen to a CD. There is a large, private bathroom with shower, a table and chairs, a refrigerator, as well as plenty of storage space for your stay.
  • The Scandinavian Room - $180 per night, plus tax, including breakfast.
    This large, bright room, with knotty pine walls stained with the traditional colors of Norway, and a natural pine floor features an antique oak-leaf carved bed with a queen-size mattress. The room includes a two-person whirlpool, double vanity and a private bathroom with an oversized shower. Atrium doors lead to a spacious second floor private balcony, providing a perfect place to read a book, enjoy a beverage, or simply gaze at the stars on a cool, clear night.
  • The Carriage House - $200 per night, plus tax, including a deluxe continental breakfast brought to your room or served on our private patio (weather permitting) in the morning. This large, wonderful, open space in a separate building on the property is decorated in an Asian décor that is delightful. Enjoy the galley kitchen that is fully furnished with everything you will need to cook in for lunch or dinner if you decide. There is a dining area, a large sofa, DSL access, gas fireplace, king-size bed, large bathroom with 2-person whirlpool and shower and its own stereo system, with a large TV with DVD and VCR, along with a collection of films for your viewing. The large windows overlook the fountain and pond, where you can watch many birds enjoy the water.

Minnesota Bed & Breakfast Guild has inspected the Habberstad House Bed & Breakfast,
and issued their Quality Assurance Certification to the property.
