The Magic Door is a stately, three story Victorian located on a spacious corner lot, just four blocks from downtown Northfield, Minnesota. It was built in 1899 by Henry Boe, the owner of one of Northfield's first hardware stores. The house has been both a private residence and a triplex before we purchased it in February 2001 to create our bed & breakfast.

Travel information about Minnesota

Designated as a U.S. territory in 1849, the name Minnesota comes from the Dakota Indian description of sky-tinted waters, hinting at the more than 10,00 lakes the state boasts. Minnesota is 357 miles wide by 411 miles long, with its highest point at Eagle Mountain. Did you know the governor's salary was just $3000 in 1870, or that there are over 350 shipwrecks at the bottom of Lake Superior? A Minneapolis inn or St. Paul bed and breakfast provides the Garrison Keillor warmth often associated with Minnesota.
