New Bedford is a port city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, located about 51 miles south of Boston. The city was originally settled by Portuguese fishermen, and their descendants celebrate Dia de Portugal during the second weekend in June in honor of that fact. If you come for that celebration pick a New Bedford B&B or New Bradford inn to stay in so you will be only steps away from the activities. Also in June is the St. John's Feast, a major Catholic celebration in New Bedford.
