The town of Fairhaven is located in Bristol County, in southern Massachusetts, on the shore of Buzzard's Bay. It was once a major whaling port and is currently home to numerous Fairhaven B&Bs and Fairhaven inns. In January, the annual "Polar Plunge" at Fort Phoenix State Beach is a fundraising event for victims of domestic violence. A fireworks display is held over the harbor every Fourth of July. The Old Time Holiday Weekend in mid-December is a collection of many activities, including tree lighting and caroling, children's craft making, a Holiday Marketplace with crafts and homemade baked goods for sale, and a Conestoga wagon display, among many others.
